FAQ

What does Freedom fare do for me?

Flights booked with Freedom fare allows you to cancel any international flight booking, with the guarantee of a full airfare refund.

Is the Freedom fare refund applicable on non-refundable tickets?

Yes, non-refundable tickets booked with Freedom fare are eligible for a full airfare refund, if cancelled. Flights cancelled less than 24 hours before departure time will not be eligible for a full airfare refund.

Up until when can I cancel my tickets to get a full airfare refund?

Please be sure to cancel your flight at least 24 hours before the scheduled departure time. Flights cancelled less than 24 hours before departure time will not be eligible for a full airfare refund.

How does the Freedom fare refund work?

When a cancellation is confirmed within the specified timeframe (see above), the refund is initiated instantly. The full airfare amount will be credited to the registered account or original mode of payment within 7 working days.

How is my refund calculated?

Your refund amount is equal to the standard air fare. What is not refunded is the non-refundable convenience fee and the premium. Freedom fare is calculated as the standard airfare, plus an additional premium.

Is Freedom fare the same as travel insurance?

Freedom fare is designed for cancellations due to personal reasons, which travel insurance does not cover. Insurance, however is good to have in the event of a flight change or cancellation by the airline; and insurance also offers security for the entire duration of your journey, not just the flight.

What happens if I amend or change a flight booked with Freedom fare?

Any changes made to a flight booked with Freedom fare voids the full refund benefit. Airline cancellation fees, and Cleartrip fees will be applicable. We recommend cancelling the flight entirely. Please note the premium that is part of the Freedom Fare (paid at the time of original booking) is also non-refundable.

I have purchased Freedom fare tickets for 3 passengers in a single booking; can I cancel only one passenger’s flight?

Yes, you can cancel the booking for any one passenger without impacting the bookings for the remaining passengers. You will be refunded the full airfare for any or all flights cancelled. Note: Full refund is only applicable for cancellations made up to 24 hours before scheduled departure time.

I cancelled my flight directly with the airline. Am I still eligible for the Freedom fare refund?

Unfortunately not. Cancellations must be made on the Cleartrip website or mobile app to qualify for a full airfare refund. If you cancel your trip, or tickets, with the airline Freedom fare benefits are voided.

Can I use discount codes or Payback with a Freedom fare booking?

Yes, absolutely. Select Freedom fare, and apply valid discount code of choice in the given field. PAYBACK users can also earn and redeem points against every booking.

My flight was cancelled by the airline. What now?

That’s a bummer. Not to worry though, we will refund your booking amount in full – airfare + convenience fee + Freedom fare premium will be reversed to the original mode of payment.

I booked a non-refundable fare, but selected Freedom fare on the payment screen. Am I eligible for a full refund on cancellation?

Yes, absolutely. Freedom fare benefits are applicable on non-refundable fares as well. Be sure to cancel your flight, if you need to, 24 hours before your flight departure time.

I’ve completed the onward journey, can I cancel the return journey?

Yes, you can cancel the flight, however you will not be eligible for a refund if the return flight has the same PNR as the onward flight. PNR (Passenger Name Record) is a unique, computer generated reservation number. The airline creates this for every ticket booked. Please refer to your e-ticket to confirm PNR.

I have a round-trip booking, and I want to cancel one part of the journey. Will I still get a full airfare refund?

You can cancel either the onward or return journey, however you will not be eligible for a refund if the both flights have the same PNR. PNR (Passenger Name Record) is a unique, computer generated reservation number. The airline creates this for every ticket booked. Please refer to your e-ticket to confirm PNR.

I did not get a full refund even though I booked Freedom fare. Why is that?

There could be one of two reasons why this happened:

  • The flight was cancelled less than 24 hours from the scheduled departure time.
  • Partial cancellation of a round-trip flight, where onward and return flight have the same PNR.
  • For cancellations made in response to Covid-19, some airlines have issued travel credit (or credit shell) instead. Since this is not a cancellation (travel credit is equal to the booking amount, and available to the customer for a new booking at a later date), Freedom Fare benefits are unavailable.
