From 165-metre-high wheels to wild nocturnal adventures and high-octane fairground rides, Singapore presents a series of bucket list experiences that keep holidaymakers coming back for more. See if you can squeeze these top five attractions into your next Singapore trip – and if you can’t, the answer is simple: stay longer.

DAY 1: Enjoy a bird’s eye view of the city on the Singapore Flyer

Take a scenic spin on the mammoth Singapore Flyer, one of the largest observatory wheels in the world. Topping out at 165 metres above ground level, it provides unrivalled skyline views of Singapore; you can even glimpse Malaysia and Indonesia on a clear day! By night, the city-state lights up like a treasure chest of gems glittering in the dark. Sip on champagne as you soak up the postcard panorama from your spacious glass pod.

Open daily from 8:30am to 10:30pm; www.singaporeflyer.com/en

DAY 2: Singapore Zoo

Applauded for recreating exacting natural habitats for its residents, Singapore Zoo is home to more than 2,800 creatures, including reptiles, birds and mammals. Explore exciting zones featuring giraffes, elephants, orangutans, lions and tigers, and some lesser-known wonders, like the two-toed sloth and the white-faced saki monkey – both too cute for words. Private buggy tours can be booked for special occasions, and don’t miss the nocturnal Rainforest Lumina experience from 7:30pm to midnight, which allows guests access to the zoo after dark when an audio-visual spectacle brings the night to life.

Open daily from 8:30am to 6:00pm; www.wrs.com.sg/en/singapore-zoo.html

DAY 3: Night Safari

Night owls will also love Singapore’s Night Safari. This nocturnal park is home to 2,500 animals – almost half of which are endangered. Providing protection to the different species housed here, five different zones represent topographies from around the planet, including the Indian Subcontinent, the Asian Riverine Forest, the Himalayan Foothills, the Equatorial Africa, the Nepalese River Valley and the Burmese Hillside. Stroll around the globe in a single evening and get to know the wildlife.

Open daily from 7:30pm to 12:00am; www.wrs.com.sg/en/night-safari.html

DAY 4: Singapore Cable Car

Stunning Sentosa Island is home to Singapore Cable Car, which glides through the breath-taking landscape between this mesmerising isle and the mainland. The cable comprises two lines giving passengers up to 45 memorable minutes scaling the clouds above talcum-soft beaches and verdant forest. The Mount Faber Line trip rolls for up to 30 minutes, while the Sentosa Line ride lasts up to 15, and there are some unique dining experiences on the menu, too. Book a four-course Stardust Cabin dinner by night, a Fly Me to Italy Cabin themed dinner, a Singapore Flavours Cabin serving a seven-item Asian bento box or a Champagne Cabin with bubbly and tapas.

Open daily from 9:00am to 9:30pm; www.onefabergroup.com

DAY 5: Universal Studios Singapore

Walk through the universes of your favourite movie characters at Universal Studios Singapore. Another highlight of much-loved Sentosa Island, this theme park is packed with state-of-the-art thrill rides, including the world’s tallest duelling roller coasters ‘Battlestar Galactica: Human vs Cylon’, indoor coaster ‘Revenge of the Mummy’ and ‘Transformers the Ride: The Ultimate 3D Battle’. Voted the number-one amusement park in Asia from 2014 to 2020, this adrenalin-fuelled sprawl is also home to prehistoric Jurassic Park, Madagascar and a cast of Minions. Enjoy!

Open from 2:00pm to 8:00pm, Thursday to Sunday and 2:00pm to 9:00pm on public holidays; www.rwsentosa.com/en/attractions/universal-studios-singapore
