Singapore has been making huge strides towards managing Covid-19 conditions, ensuring the city-state can safely welcome visitors again. Thanks to its efforts, Singapore is one of the safest places to visit in the world. Here are the measures keeping visitors and residents safe:

  • Face masks are mandatory

Except when dining or exercising, everyone is expected to wear a face mask in public areas. Singapore is the perfect place to shop for stylish face masks too, with local brands like Zalora, Face Wedge and Reckless Erica creating colourful statement face masks that also make chic mementos of trips to Singapore.

  • One metre’s distance should be observed

Reminders are dotted around Singapore to maintain at least one metre distance from others at all times. With reduced-capacity limits set at attractions, this is more easily achievable – and, of course, Singapore’s green spaces provide more than enough room for visitors.

  • Groups are limited to eight

Eight is the magic number when it comes to travelling around Singapore. Up to eight people are allowed to interact in public spaces, such as parks or promenades, meaning there’s ample opportunity to spend time with family and friends. Tour groups will be broken down into the prevailing safe gathering size and tour guides will wear masks and implement rigorous cleaning and disinfecting regimes for audio equipment.

  • Apps track visitors

While in Singapore, people are required to complete a SafeEntry check-in via the TraceTogether mobile app before entering restaurants, shopping malls and stores. TraceTogether is a contact-tracing mobile application supporting Singapore’s diligent efforts in the fight against Covid-19. When phones with the app installed are near each other, they exchange anonymised information via Bluetooth. The data collected by the app is stored securely on your phone, and only shared with the Ministry of Health if you test positive for Covid-19. All data is also automatically deleted after 25 days.

  • Temperatures are regularly checked

Before entering restaurants, shopping malls and retail stores, visitors’ temperatures are checked, enabling early signs of fever to be caught. Knowing that your fellow diners and shoppers aren’t running a fever gives everyone peace of mind.

  • Drinking has a curfew

In all licensed establishments, the sale and consumption of alcohol is prohibited after 10.30pm each night. This precaution reminds visitors to enjoy their evenings responsibly.

  • Help is on hand

Some clinics in Singapore, including the Raffles Medical Group (+65 6311 1222), offer round-the-clock Covid-19 tests and treatment. If unwell, you should visit a Public Health Preparedness Clinic immediately, travelling to the clinic in either a private hire car or taxi. Do not use public transport if you have Covid-19 symptoms.

  • Visitors will take a PCR Test

When borders reopen to foreign travellers, reassuring safety measures will be in place at airports. Currently, short-term visitors travelling from selected low-risk countries need to apply for an Air Travel Pass before entering Singapore. Air Travel Pass requirements state that visitors should have stayed in the eligible country or region for the last 14 days prior to departing for Singapore; they then have to register and pre-pay for a post-arrival polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test and book non-residential accommodation with an attached bathroom to self-isolate for up to two days while awaiting the test results.
