If you enjoy eating great food, then you’ll be eager to absolutely devour this list of the finest delicacies around the world! Wherever in the world you are, there’s great food to be had. Here are the top 10 delicacies around the world.

  1. Cod Tongues

We obviously had to start the list off with a very strange sounding food, but we promise it gets stranger! However, the name of this one is somewhat misleading. Originating from Newfoundland and Labrador, Cod tongues are not tongues specifically, but a jelly-like flesh from the fish’s throat. They have a texture reminiscent of clams and are often served breaded and fried. You’ll savor having this tongue on your own tongue!

  1. Escargots à la Bourguignonne

As you can probably tell by the name, this is a fantastic French delicacy. Escargot is a dish of snails, but they are cooked in a delicious sauce made of white wine. The shells are generally accompanied by creamy butter and garlic for extra zing. They have a similar consistency as mussels or clams. You’ll want to go to a higher-end restaurant to eat these guys, as nothing smells worse than poorly cooked snails.

  1. Crocodile

This time it’s the crocodile being eaten. Crocodile meat is one of the strangest delicacies on our list. It allegedly tastes like crab or chicken, depending on who you ask- some even claim it tastes like a cross between the two. Crocodile meat is now being farmed for commercial use, so you won’t have to shed any crocodile tears over eating them. Crocodile meat is often consumed in Australia, Southeast Asia, or even Africa.

  1. Turtle Soup

Turtle soup is exactly what you would expect to be, a soup made out of turtles! Considered it as a savory Chinese delicacy, the meat is harvested from the softer innards of a turtle. In North America, snapping turtles are commonly used to prepare this dish, and the taste is allegedly gamier than its Chinese counterpart. We were pleasantly surprised to find the meat to be quite moist, and the broth incredibly delicious.

  1.  Rocky Mountain Oysters

This is another one of those misleading names, as Rocky Mountain Oysters are in fact not actually oysters. Rocky Mountain Oysters are created from the testicles of a bull that is deep fried and accompanied by pepper and salt. Often served in carnivals and festivals throughout the United States, you should seize the opportunity to give these a try if you ever encounter them.

  1. Whale Meat
